The four Australian prepared Citroens178 viewsThe cars (numbers 15, 25, 45 and 69) were prepared in Bribane and driven to Perth in Western Australia for shipping to the UK for the Rally. Jim says ".....it was a good shake down run and got a few miles up......" The cars are lined up ready to go to the wharf.

Minimal modifications125 viewsYou will notice that the battery and oil filter have been moved and a cooler fitted. What is not evident is the coolers on the front spheres. They were about 5 inches long and 3 inches round and finned. The damper valve was removed from the sphere and mounted in the lower end of the coolers so as to keep the sphere diphrams as far away as possible from the heat generated by the damper valves. The only work done on the engine was lightening of the flywheel.

Car 33 - water tank233 viewsCar 33 the water tank mounted in the boot of the Mercedes ( it was compulsory to carry a specified amount of water, particularly in the desert sections of the rally in Iran and Australia). The auxiliiary fuel tank is up under the ledge created by the rear parcel shelf and a spare wheel not leaving much room for anything else in the boot.

The most famous Vega in the World278 viewsClark Kirby (Cosworth Vega Owners)

Here is a photo I took of the owner and co-driver of the most famous
Chevy Cosworth in the world. These guys drove the CV (behind them)
all the way from London, England to Sydney, Australia (30,000 km).
They... drove the ONLY 2 wheel drive American-built car in the London-
Sydney Rally. On the left is the co-driver, Carlos Niederhauser and
on the right is the driver/car owner, Tom Delashmutt. Those of us at
the 2011 CVOA Roundup got to meet them and hear of the stories. In
this photo, note that Carlos is wearing the original official
Singapore Airlines sponsor rally shirt that he wore on the rally!

Almost stuck in WA264 viewsGeorge Harris took this picture of me in Australia. we were looking
for some bolts that fell off that held some suspension together.
George had the bolts which you can see in my left fingers.
That's our car down the road with Tom Delashmutt looking for the
pieces. You can see what is left of George's car on the right.
After he gave me the bolts I said "Thank you Lord" to George, hence
the remark on the photo that George sent me. The shirt I am wearing
was given to me at the Pakistani India border by a woman from the
Punjab tourism bureau. At the time is was great to get a clean
shirt. Carlos
